About Us
My world changed forever when at age 12, my parents gave me a sewing machine for Christmas. I literally burned out that poor Singer's motor whipping out an endless stream of garments at a frenzied pace. I discovered quiltmaking when I was in high school.I figured that since I could sew, I could probably quilt. It was so much fun to play with the fabrics and colors--much more satisfying than making buttonholes on a blouse! I was hooked.
Soon quiltmaking had to take a back seat to working and starting a family. As a stay-at-home mom to 3 boys, quilting became a welcome, although rare, escape. Many years and many quilts later I began to feel the urge to design my own and Late Bloomer Quilts was born.
I work from the home I share with my husband and 2 of my 3 sons. I share my studio with 2 dogs, a cat and Melvin the guinea pig.
I am drawn to soft vintage designs and garden themes. The quilts are for my fantasy cottage that is covered with roses overlooking the sea.
